Student Launch Mentorship · with Luc Tran

College skills they don’t teach in class.

One-on-one mentorship for high school and college students. I start by asking questions, figuring out what is actually getting in the way, and helping the student build a system they can use in real life.

What we can work on

01

Reset screen habits

Find where attention is being pulled and build realistic limits, notifications, and routines across the devices you use.

02

Build a more efficient week

Plan focused work around classes, a job, commuting, sleep, meals, and activities so available hours are easier to use well.

03

Learn how to actually study

Practice active recall, spaced review, practice questions, and free study tools to learn more in less time.

04

Get more out of class

Take useful notes, listen actively, connect ideas during lecture, and communicate with the professor instead of trying to relearn everything later.

05

Handle college without losing yourself

Build routines for independence, friends, clubs, roommates, asking for help, and a life outside school.

06

Build study systems that work with ADHD

I share systems that helped me manage distraction and follow through, then help the student test what fits their own situation.

07

Use AI to make study time count

Build smarter daily workflows for turning class materials into study guides, practice questions, checklists, and organized notes. Learn when to automate setup, when to think for yourself, and how to verify every result.

08

Plan the pre-dental path

Organize courses, the DAT, clinical and shadowing experiences, applications, and the next realistic step.

09

Do well in a demanding science major

Plan heavy science quarters, approach lectures and labs strategically, and build the habits needed to compete near the top of the class.

Why I built this

I wasn’t always a high achiever.

I struggled with ADHD, anxiety, distraction, low motivation, and feeling overwhelmed by schoolwork. College changed when I started building practical systems that made it easier to focus, stay consistent, ask for help, and follow through.

Then · High school

No reliable system

  • Not academically driven in high school
  • Changed high schools three times
  • Struggled with distraction and too much screen time
  • Felt unsure of myself and overwhelmed by school

What changed · College

Small systems, repeated

  • Realistic scheduling and distraction control
  • Active study methods and frequent review
  • Learning to seek help and talk with professors
  • Consistent routines for school, fitness, and life

Why mentorship helps

Starting earlier gives progress more time to build.

Think about training at the gym. One hard workout rarely changes much. Progress comes from having a good plan, practicing the right things, getting feedback, and making small adjustments over time.

School works the same way. Mentorship helps a student build useful habits before problems pile up, learn what works sooner, and become more independent with time.

The systems worked.

How a session works

50 minutes, built around a real conversation.

01

Start with questions

Understand what has been happening, what the student has tried, and where the week is breaking down.

02

Work through it together

Use the student’s actual schedule, class materials, habits, or goals to build and test a practical system.

03

Choose the next move

End with a small number of clear actions and a way to check whether the system is helping.

Hourly

I created Hourly because a schedule only shows what someone planned to do. To use it, mark what you did during each hour. Hourly then helps you compare your plan with how you actually used your time, notice patterns, and make a better plan for the next day.

FAQ

Good questions before we start.

Who is this for?

High school students preparing for college, college students building stronger systems, and students who want focused STEM or pre-dental support.

Is this tutoring or mentorship?

Mentorship is the main service: study systems, scheduling, independence, college life, technology, and planning. STEM tutoring is a separate option focused on a specific course.

Do you meet online or in person?

Online sessions use Google Meet. In-person sessions in Elk Grove depend on availability and are arranged during the intro call.

What should I send before STEM tutoring?

Your syllabus, lecture slides, assignments, practice exams, study guides, and the exact topics you want to work on. Please avoid sending unnecessary personal information.

How often should we meet?

You can book one session or meet consistently. We can choose a schedule based on what the student actually needs.

Can parents join the intro call?

Yes. Parents are welcome to join, especially for minors, so everyone can align on goals, boundaries, scheduling, and expectations.

Is this therapy, medical care, nutrition care, or licensed college counseling?

No. Student Launch provides educational mentorship, coaching, and tutoring. It does not replace licensed mental-health, medical, dietetic, academic-advising, or admissions-counseling services.

What if I only want one session?

That is completely fine. A single 50-minute mentorship session is available, and tutoring can also be booked one session at a time.

Ready for a first step?

Book a free 20-minute intro.

Tell me where you are, what feels difficult, and what you want to improve. We’ll decide whether mentorship, tutoring, or another resource makes the most sense.
